Alarm from Colombia:
The National Network of Community Aqueducts of Colombia (Red Nacional de Acueductos Comunitarios de Colombia), faced with the imminent risk that the draft law for community water management will be definitively defeated in the Congress of the Republic due to the expiration of the constitutional term, has decided to file a WRIT OF PROTECTION against the Congress of the Republic of Colombia, Senator LIDIO GARCÍA TURBAY in his capacity as President of the Senate and the Senate’s Rapporteurship, for the violation of the fundamental rights to water, democratic participation, due legislative process and equality of the plaintiff and the community aqueduct organizations.
We cannot allow the legislative work of four debates, which for months had the significant participation of community organizations from various regions of Colombia, to be lost.
