From the Blue Community Environmental Defenders Uganda:
We are proud to have participated in the second international environmental justice conference, “Responsibility and Resilience in a Changing Climate,” hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Estonia and NGO Mondo in Tallinn. We were honored to bring the voice of frontline communities from the Congo Basin and the Albertine region of Uganda to this important global conversation. The communities we work with are among those bearing the heaviest burden of a crisis they did least to cause. Their voices belong in every room where climate decisions are made. We look forward to continued collaboration with our Estonian partners, and we warmly congratulate the Estonian Government on the upcoming opening of its new embassy in Nairobi, Kenya, a step that will bring Estonia closer to the communities of East Africa and the Congo Basin who are standing up every day to protect their environment and defend their futures.
