AOZ Classes on Fountain Tour.

Numerous students from the AOZ German language classes in the Swiss Blue Community / Blue City of Dietikon participated in two guided tours of the city’s fountains on Wednesday morning, June 10, 2026. These tours, now in their third year, are part of the City of Dietikon’s commitment to becoming a Blue Community.

Since 2021, Dietikon has held the Blue Community label, demonstrating its commitment to the responsible use of water as a vital resource. The fountain tours are jointly organized by the infrastructure department, the water utility, and the city’s integration office. The aim of these accessible events is to impart knowledge about the local drinking water supply and to strengthen confidence in the high quality of Dietikon’s drinking water.

The participants gathered at the town hall fountain. During the two enjoyable walks along various Dietikon fountains, they learned about the origins of the drinking water, how it is extracted, and why it is of such excellent quality.

Particular attention was paid to the comprehensive quality controls. Approximately 180 laboratory samples are taken and analyzed annually to ensure the high quality of the drinking water. Participants also received information about which public fountains are safe to drink from and that tap water at home is always perfectly safe to drink. Furthermore, it was demonstrated that tap water is not only environmentally friendly but also significantly cheaper than bottled water from the store.

The tours were met with great interest. Participants appreciated the practical information and took the opportunity to ask numerous questions about the water supply and the quality of Dietikon’s drinking water.
