Guterres: Safe Water Access Remains a Major Challenge in Africa.

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres says millions of people in Africa still lack access to safe drinking water and sanitation services due to insufficient investment and weak resource management.

Guterres wrote on X on Sunday night, May 31, that gaps in funding and governance systems have left millions of Africans without access to safe water and sanitation.

The UN chief stressed that water is a fundamental human right and a source of life.

He added: “If we work together, we can make this fundamental human right available to everyone and ensure that Africa’s water resources are properly developed, managed, and protected.”

Guterres has repeatedly warned about the impact of water shortages, climate change, and weak infrastructure on the lives of millions around the world.
