Statement from the Blue Community Network for the Mumbai Health Summit 2026

The Blue Community Network warmly welcomes the important efforts of the Mumbai Health Summit 2026 to advance healthcare access for underserved communities, particularly women and adolescent girls.

We would like to emphasize that access to safe drinking water and sanitation is fundamental to public health, disease prevention, dignity, and human development. Many illnesses affecting vulnerable populations, including waterborne diseases, anemia-related complications, and hygiene-related infections, cannot be effectively addressed without reliable access to clean water and adequate sanitation services.

Water and sanitation are not only technical issues — they are human rights and essential pillars of equitable healthcare systems.

The Blue Community Network therefore encourages governments, healthcare institutions, and civil society organizations to integrate public water access, hygiene, and sanitation infrastructure into all strategies aimed at improving community health and resilience.

We wish the Summit every success in its important mission.

Roland Brunner on behalf of the Blue Community Network
