HSCF Concludes Health Summit

Dr. Azizi Urges Stronger Public Health Measures and Accessible Healthcare for Vulnerable Communities to Combat India’s Anemia and Cancer Burden.

With India continuing to face significant public health challenges, including rising cancer cases and a high prevalence of anemia among women and adolescent girls, healthcare experts, diplomats, and international stakeholders gathered at the University of Mumbai for the Mumbai Health Summit 2026 to discuss practical and sustainable healthcare solutions.

The summit was organized by Human Social Care Foundation (HSCF), an organization holding Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), in collaboration with the University of Mumbai. The event focused on adolescent girls’ anemia, cancer prevention, preventive healthcare, and expanding access to medical services through mobile healthcare initiatives. Opening the summit, Dr. Faizan A. Azizi, Founder and President of Human Social Care Foundation and Chief Representative to the United Nations, emphasized that addressing public health challenges requires more than policy discussions alone.

Behind every health statistic is a human story. Effective prevention, stronger collaboration, action against food adulteration and environmental health risks, and affordable healthcare services for vulnerable, disability communities are essential if we are serious about reducing the burden of anemia and cancer in India,” Dr. Azizi said. He announced plans to expand community outreach through mobile healthcare services and school-based health initiatives designed to support early detection of anemia among adolescent girls.

The summit featured contributions from prominent national and international speakers.

Former Judge of the Bombay High Court and Allahabad High Court, Justice Abhay Thipsay, highlighted the importance of equitable and affordable healthcare access, observing that the success of any healthcare system must ultimately be measured by its ability to reach those who need care the most.

Dr. Feroze Sidhwa, (Trauma & Critical Care Surgeon from US invitee to UN Security Council emphasized the universal nature of healthcare, stating that access to quality medical treatment should never be determined by nationality, religion, ethnicity, or circumstances. Humanity must always come first.

Mr. Harold D’Souza, Member of the U.S. Advisory Council on Human Trafficking, stressed the importance of prevention, awareness, and early intervention, while expressing appreciation for initiatives that seek to improve healthcare access for underserved populations. I appreciate Dr Azizi initiatives and provide all possible support to him.

Hon’ble Ms. Sofija Korac, former Deputy Health Attaché at the U.S. Mission in Geneva, highlighted anemia as one of the most preventable public health challenges and noted that school-based screening programmes remain among the most effective tools for early detection and intervention. Mobile Clinic would be very effective for vulnerable and disable community. Step taken by Dr Azizi is direct attached to UN SDG “No one left behind”.

His Excellency Mr. Mustafa Kemalettin Eruygur, Consul General of the Republic of Türkiye in Mumbai, praised initiatives that strengthen humanitarian cooperation and grassroots healthcare while contributing to global sustainable development goals. I appreciate the efforts of Dr. Azizi and his team in promoting humanitarian values and contributing to international dialogue through the United Nations ECOSOC platform. Initiatives that strengthen grassroots healthcare while contributing to global sustainable development deserve encouragement and wider support.

Mr. Delfin Giducos from the Philippines emphasized the long-term benefits of preventive healthcare investments and acknowledged Dr. Azizi’s active participation in United Nations discussions, where practical and solution-oriented recommendations have contributed to meaningful dialogue.

Dr. Krupanidhi Nayak, Anemia Specialist from London, underlined the importance of addressing health conditions before they become life-threatening and commended efforts aimed at strengthening preventive healthcare among vulnerable populations.

Ms. Chitose Namboku of Japan highlighted the impact of anemia on women’s health and future generations, welcoming initiatives that provide free testing, medical consultation, and mobile healthcare services for vulnerable communities and persons with disabilities.

One of the major outcomes of the summit was the signing of a collaboration agreement between Human Social Care Foundation and CritiCare Asia Hospital Group. Under the partnership, CritiCare Asia Hospital Group will provide free blood testing and medical consultation services for school-going girls, while Human Social Care Foundation will coordinate outreach, implementation, and community engagement activities. Dr. Amit Parikh, CEO of CritiCare Asia Hospital Group, reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to social responsibility and community healthcare. The summit also recognized distinguished medical professionals for their contributions to healthcare, humanitarian service, and patient care. Among the notable participants were Shri A. Ali Azizi, former Director of Bank of Maharashtra; Padma Shri Dr. Armida Fernandez; Dr. Sudeshna Ray (Additional Director of Obstetrics at Gynecology at Jaslok Hospital Consultant at Sir H.N.Reliance Foundation Hospital) Dr. Hitesh R. Singhavi (Head Neck Cancer Surgeon Consultant at Jaslok Hospital and Research Center), Dr. Shrinath Kshirsagar Dr Shrinath Kshirsagar (Hematologist) ; Dr. Sushen Bhatt (Consulting Surgeon oncologist, A gold Medalist Criticare Asia Hospital & Research Center ); and Dr. Adil Patel. (Facutly at MGM Medical College at Vashi), Justice M.A. Sayeed (Ex Acting Chairmen Maharashtra State Human rights Commission).

Concluding the summit, participants collectively called for effective measurers, stronger cooperation among healthcare institutions, governments, civil society organizations, academic bodies, and international partners to improve preventive healthcare, expand access to affordable medical services, and address the growing burden of anemia, cancer, and other preventable diseases. Human Social Care Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to advancing healthcare access, promoting community-centered health initiatives, and contributing to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals through partnership, advocacy, and humanitarian action.
