The Blue Community can count on a new partner in Tanzania: The organisation JustGreenTz was designated a Blue Community and joins the network.
JustGreenTz is a youth- and women-led environmental organization dedicated to promoting environmental protection, climate action, and sustainable community development in Tanzania. Founded in May 2025, the organisation was established to respond to the growing need for inclusive, community-driven solutions that address environmental challenges while empowering young people and women.
JustGreenTz commits to the Blue Community because it recognizes the critical role that water plays in environmental sustainability, climate resilience, and community well-being: «With JustGreenTz, we have become increasingly aware of the environmental challenges affecting our communities, including plastic pollution, improper waste management, and their impacts on water bodies and ecosystems.»
Joining the Blue Community Network shall provide JustGreenTz with the opportunity to learn from a global community committed to protecting water as a human right and a public resource.
JustGreenTz looks forward to contributing to the network through youth engagement, environmental awareness initiatives, community cleanups, climate advocacy, and knowledge sharing: «Through JustGreenTz, we are committed to promoting environmental responsibility and encouraging young people to take action in protecting natural resources, including our water sources.»
By becoming part of the Blue Community Network, JustGreenTz hopes to strengthen its capacity to connect climate action with water conservation and contribute to a collective effort towards a more sustainable and resilient future.
JustGreenTz has conducted environmental awareness and community engagement activities in schools, universities, markets, hospitals, and public spaces, promoting the importance of clean environments and responsible waste management. JustGreenTz plans to integrate education on the human right to safe water and sanitation into these outreach activities. The goal is to raise awareness and encourage communities, especially young people, to support equitable access to clean water and sanitation for all.
JustGreenTz wants to raise awareness about the importance of accessible, affordable, and well-managed public water and sanitation services through community outreach, youth engagement, and environmental education activities. It shall encourage greater public understanding and support for sustainable and equitable water services that benefit all members of society.
Maria Mukami, Founder and Executive Director of JustGreenTz, declares:
«As a young climate advocate, I am continuously exploring ways to address the interconnected challenges and contribute to sustainable solutions. With JustGreenTz becoming a Blue Community, I hope to deepen my knowledge of water stewardship, water justice, and sustainable water management, while connecting with individuals and organizations working toward similar goals.»
Sir Charles Chitechi, President of the Kenyan Blue Community WASWAK and Blue Community Coordinator for Eastern Africa, welcomes JustGreenTz:
