RAM-WASH Senegal – UAE Ambassador

From the Blue Community African Media Network for Water, Hygiene and Sanitation (RAM-WASH), Senegal:

The African Media Network for Water, Hygiene and Sanitation (RAM-WASH) and the Journalists’ Framework for Reflection and Action on Water, Hygiene and Sanitation (CRAJEHA) were received by His Excellency Mr. Saeed Hamdan Al Naqbi, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to the Republic of Senegal, in the presence of Ms. Rafeya Bushnain, Deputy Ambassador and Head of the Political and Economic Affairs Section, Media and Public Diplomacy of the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates.

This meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the prospects for collaboration between the two networks and the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates, in view of the next United Nations Water Conference to be held in Abu Dhabi.

Discussions focused on the contributions that specialized media and journalists can make to raising awareness, advocating and mobilizing actors around issues related to water, sanitation and hygiene, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.

At the end of the exchanges, the Embassy invited RAM-WASH to develop a joint action plan. This roadmap should identify concrete initiatives likely to strengthen the participation of the African media in the preparation and coverage of this important international conference.

This hearing marks an important step in strengthening the partnership between media actors committed to the right to water, sanitation and hygiene, and institutions mobilized to accelerate the achievement of SDG 6 and international commitments in favor of water.
