Universal access to safely managed drinking water services is a core target under SDG 6.1. But how much does achieving it actually reduce child diarrhoea and which parts of the safely managed definition matter most?
This paper analyses household and child health survey data from 26,796 households with children under 5, across 24 Multiple Indicator Cluster Surveys (MICS) in low- and middle-income countries, using multilevel log-binomial models to estimate the relative risk of child diarrhoea linked to safely managed criteria.
