Dear friends from the Social and Indigenous Peoples´ Platform for Water, a few announcements:

First, thanks to all of you who already signed and shared the letter of support to the Special Rapporteur. For those who haven’t done so yet, please do so by June 18th. You can access the letter in this link.

Second, please note that the period for proposing side events to the Water Conference 2026 has opened. The deadline for doing so is July 31th. You can find more information here.

Third, the Social Platform has been invited to participate in a working group co-hosted by the Swiss cooperation in support of Interactive Dialogue 1. Water for people. The objective of this group is identifying priority actions and flagship initiatives that can accelerate the realization of the human rights to safe drinking water and sanitation and contribute to the achievement of SDG 6. The selected initiatives will then be proposed at the Water Conference as part of ID 1. While the time-frame in which this working group is operating is tight, and the proposals that they are looking for follow a strict criteria, this could be a good opportunity to advance some proposals on ID 1. You can in this document the criteria for priority actions and flagship initiatives

The Social Platform has been invited to submit one priority action and one flagship initiative. If you are interested in proposing a priority action or flagship initiative, please send an email (please with cc), so further details can be arranged. The deadline for submitting the proposals is 17th June 15:00 CEST.

In case that more than one proposal is submitted to each category, the Social Platform will hold an online vote between June 17th-18th to decide which proposals are to be sent.
