Non-revenue water in Africa: challenges, impacts and solutions to improve service performance.
The webinar organized by the African Media Network and the African Water and Sanitation Association focused on the challenges of reducing unrevenue water losses in water utilities in Africa. Speakers, including Vincent Nialla from Sodeci in Ivory Coast, Mahmood Daya from the National Water Authority in Uganda and Souleymane Sain from Utron, shared their experiences and technological solutions aimed at reducing these losses. Vincent Niala presented the concrete results obtained in Abidjan, with a 47% reduction in non-revenue water in five years thanks to an integrated approach including instrumentation, pressure management and systematic search for leaks. Discussions also focused on technologies adapted to local constraints, financing mechanisms and performance indicators to evaluate efforts to reduce water losses.
