Since the beginning of January 2025, we have had an online form available in five languages for institutions and organisations committing to the Blue Community. In the 18 months since then, we have received 100 applications from a wide range of places and organisations, including big cities like Amsterdam, small villages in Dogonland, Mali, and large institutions like the Arab Countries Water Utilities Association (ACWUA), as well as small community-based organisations all over Africa and South Asia.
Eleven of these commitments were turned down for various reasons, e.g. the applicants were not designated Blue Communities. Fourteen applications are pending, partly because they have only just been submitted, but also because we have not received the required documentation for some of them. Overall, however, 75 commitments were accepted, and the applicants were designated Blue Communities.
The Blue Community Network continues to grow rapidly and successfully, not only in terms of numbers, but also in terms of exchange and cooperation. It is still fast and easy to become a Blue Community. There is no membership fee, but we do want your commitment.
