What the search for drinking water at Lake Ammersee has to do with natural gas.
Due to the unresolved drinking water supply issue, local politicians from the Blue Community / Blue City of Landsberg am Lech district are demanding that Economics Minister Hubert Aiwanger suspend natural gas exploration near Lake Ammersee. “The supply of drinking water to the population of the district is a central component of public services and must take precedence over the search for new gas sources,” reads a letter from District Administrator Daniela Groß (Greens) to the head of the Free Voters party. The letter was also signed by the mayors of Reichling , Utting, Dießen, Vilgertshofen, Rott, and Pürgen, as well as representatives of the affected water suppliers.
