2. advocates for water services to remain in public hands
3. promotes the consumption of tap water instead of bottled water
4. cultivates partnerships with international partners who are committed to public-public cooperation.
With the launch and support of the Reuss Initiative, we want to demand the right of people, but also the right of bodies of water, to clean water.
We focus on the legal status of bodies of water because this is the most effective way to achieve further goals. The legal personality of bodies of water contributes to their protection and thus to their cleanliness and existence. If the Reuss Initiative is adopted, groundwater would, for the first time, have the legal right to defend itself against pollution.
We can also contribute to the goals of the Blue Community on a smaller scale. At meetings and events, tap water is offered and consumed whenever possible.
On Saturday, October 24, 2026, at 3 p.m., the Reuss Association will be presented with its Blue Community certificate at the Natural History Museum in Bern.
On June 15, 2026, the association received a visit in Lucerne from Blue Community Ambassador Erin O’Donnell (Assistant Professor at the University of Melbourne Law School) and Blue Community Coordinator Roland Brunner.
