When Health and Water Work Together: Lessons from the Dominican Republic.

The Dominican Republic has done something few countries have managed: it built political consensus around water. The Pacto Dominicano por el Agua — a National Water Pact — is the only agreement of its kind in the Latin America and Caribbean region. It brings together government, civil society, and multiple sectors around a shared commitment to water security, sanitation, and coordinated action.

This is exactly the kind of multi-sectoral, politically anchored governance that SDG 6 demands. And it’s exactly the kind of model that other countries in the region — and beyond — deserve to learn from.
