Localising SDG 6: Why Global Water Goals Depend on Local Governments’ Action.
This article presents key elements from the work “Local and regional governments towards SDG 6: Localizing water and sanitation for sustainable development”, published by the Global Taskforce of Local and Regional Governments (GTF) in July 2026 and facilitated by United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) in partnership with ICLEI. As the organized constituency of local and regional governments, the GTF brings together the major international networks of local and regional governments to undertake joint advocacy work relating to global policy processes.
