Asia is a huge continent, and the water crisis is having a severe impact on it and most of its countries. Many organisations and institutions have been addressing the issue for years. The Blue Community took off in this part of the world only in January 2025, with a first organisation joining from Central Asia (see here).
The strongest development, the Blue Community sees however in South Asia, especially India, where more and more organisations joined the global network (see here).
Today there are 20 Blue Communities in South Asia: 2 in Bangladesh, 1 in Nepal, 1 in Pakistan and 16 in India. So far, the Blue Community in this region is still almost exclusively built on the shoulders of NGO, but it is covering most of the countries on the subcontinent and more and more states of India:

In order to address this rapid growth and enable stronger networking and a greater presence, the Blue Community South Asia Core Coordination was set up by the end of May 2026.
There is a WhatsApp group South Asia, open to all interested institutions, organisations and persons. Additionally, an internal WhatsApp group was established for communication and coordination among designated Blue Communities. The core coordination team steers this process.
