The Rio Pardo Observatory initiative is organizing several events from August 27 to 30, 2026 (see here), in the municipalities of Itarantim and Canavieiras in the state of Bahia, Brazil. These events will bring together representatives of traditional peoples and communities, grassroots organizations, social movements, and researchers. The aim is to share best practices for protecting the Rio Pardo, to learn from one another, and to strengthen collaboration among local stakeholders.
Blue Community Switzerland is participating in this mission and has sent Karl Heuberger as its representative. The goal of participating in the events and engaging with representatives of local organizations is to strengthen the network between the member organizations of the Rio Pardo Observatory and Blue Community Switzerland and to explore opportunities for concrete collaboration.
