Traveling exhibition “Blue Community Berlin” at Weißensee Town Hall – opening on August 31, 2026.
The Pankow District Office cordially invites you to the opening of the traveling exhibition “Blue Community Berlin” on Monday, August 31, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. in the foyer of the Weißensee Town Hall, Berliner Allee 252–260, 13088 Berlin. The exhibition will be opened with a welcoming address by the District Councillor for Youth and Family, Rona Tietje. The exhibition can then be visited free of charge during the Town Hall’s opening hours, presumably until the end of December 2026.
The traveling exhibition provides information about the international initiative “Blue Community,” of which Berlin has been a member since 2018. It makes clear why water is far more than an everyday resource: it is the basis of all life, a human right, and a public good that must be protected. At the same time, it uses numerous examples from Berlin to show how sustainable water management can be achieved in everyday life – from protecting Berlin’s waterways and promoting tap water to international partnerships for equitable access to water.
District Councillor Rona Tietje explains: “For most of us, using water is something we take for granted. The exhibition encourages us to reflect more on our relationship with water and to appreciate its value more. It thus makes a valuable contribution to environmental education for young and old.”
The exhibition was developed by Berliner Wassertisch eV in collaboration with the Blue Community Berlin initiative, commissioned by the Berlin Senate Department, and has already been shown in numerous Berlin districts. It vividly illustrates how closely local responsibility and global challenges are intertwined and invites visitors of all ages to reconsider their own relationship with water.
