Certification for AJPPC-Mali in Bamako

Yesterday we brought a short note from Blue Community French-Africa Coordinator Souleymane Guindo about the ceremony to hand over the Blue Community certificate to the Youth Association for the Promotion of Patriotism and Citizenship in Mali (Association des jeunes pour la promotion du patriotisme et de la citoyenneté au Mali -AJPPC-Mali). Today, we received their report:

REPORT ON THE CEREMONY FOR THE PRESENTATION OF THE SYMBOLIC CERTIFICATE OF THE INTERNATIONAL BLUE COMMUNITY TO AJPPC-MALI.

On Sunday, August 2, 2026, the Association for the Promotion of Patriotism and Citizenship in Mali (AJPPC-Mali) hosted a delegation from the International Blue Community at its headquarters in the Quartier du Fleuve district for a ceremony to present AJPPC-Mali with its symbolic certificate of membership. This ceremony is part of a strategic partnership aimed at carrying out joint actions to promote access to drinking water, hygiene, and sanitation in Mali and internationally.

The ceremony began at 4:00 p.m. with a welcome address by Mr. Sibiry Koné, National President of AJPPC-Mali.

Next, Mr. Tièdié Togola, representative of the Blue Community and moderator of the ceremony, led a round of introductions, allowing each participant to present themselves.

The participants included the National President of AJPPC-Mali, its Secretary General, and representatives from the Kayes, Kuwait, Bobo-Dioulasso, and Bamako District coordinating bodies. The Blue Community delegation was represented by its representative and coordinator.

Following this, Mr. Souleymane Guindo, coordinator of the Blue Community, presented the organization’s history, mission, objectives, areas of intervention, activities carried out in Mali and around the world, and future prospects.

He explained that the Blue Community was created in response to the significant problems related to lack of access to drinking water and environmental degradation, exacerbated by poor hygiene and sanitation practices. Founded in 2009, the Blue Community established itself in Mali in May 2014 to contribute to addressing these challenges.

Mr. Sibiry Koné, National President of AJPPC-Mali, then presented the association’s objectives, missions, areas of intervention, activities carried out since its creation, current projects, and future prospects.

He notably reiterated the main objectives of AJPPC-Mali:

• To strengthen the entrepreneurial skills of young people and promote a positive shift in attitudes;
• To promote youth and women’s leadership in the field of hygiene and sanitation;
• Promote access to drinking water for all;
• Raise awareness among young people about the dangers of drug and narcotic use;
• Combat desertification and promote environmental protection.

The association’s main areas of intervention are:

• Civic and community action;
• Peace and social cohesion;
• Environment, Gender and Inclusion;
• Entrepreneurship;
• Education and health.

Following the presentations, a question-and-answer session was held.

The discussions focused on the history, vision, objectives, activities carried out, and impact of the Blue Community in Mali and around the world, as well as its future prospects. The Blue Community coordinator provided clear and precise answers.

The ceremony continued with the official presentation of the symbolic certificate of recognition from the Blue Community to the National President of AJPPC-Mali, for all legal purposes.

The ceremony concluded at 6:00 PM in a convivial atmosphere, marked by a group photo.
