The Water Committee at PUCPR met with new members on August 12th to plan actions that implement the objectives and principles of the Blue University – PUCPR. The Committee members understand that it is fundamental to develop a water culture at the university, as this will also encourage society as a whole to promote water conservation. The university is a privileged space to form this culture, with teaching, research, and outreach activities.
For the principles of the Blue University to be implemented, it is essential that the Water Committee’s projects are connected to the university’s overall management, particularly the Sustainability Directorate. It is important to understand the institution’s ESG policies and include our actions within this framework.
More practically, the Committee plans to map the water studies conducted by PUCPR professors and create a virtual space, such as a blog, to give visibility to these studies. The importance of concrete actions along the river that runs near the university, the Belém River, was also emphasized.
It is hoped that, in a short time, the PUCPR Water Committee will have a plan that includes the Committee’s actions and objectives.
