The World Social Forum 2026 marked its first return to Africa since 2015. The core message was clear: Africa’s environmental future must be built through cross-sector coalitions, not isolated projects.
The Forum highlighted how interconnected today’s crises are — climate shocks, land and water conflicts, gender inequality, and social injustice are all linked. Key sessions on land justice, water rights, food sovereignty, and climate accountability pointed to shared root causes: land grabbing, water privatization, and the exclusion of frontline communities.
What stood out most were the connections made. Leaders like Dinesh Suna – WCC, Leonard Shang Quartey – Africa Water Justice Network, Mohamed Tidjani – UNEP, Olatoye Tomi – Urban Agriculture Academy, and others reinforced the value of blending faith, policy, grassroots work, and enterprise.

1. Joint advocacy on community water rights
2. Curriculum partnership for youth circular agriculture training
3. Faith-and-environment pilot for climate outreach in congregations
4. Regional learning exchange across Central and North Africa
The Forum reaffirmed that lasting solutions come from integrated coalitions. Both initiatives are ready to deepen work in youth eco-education, dialogue, and enterprise to advance circular economy and climate justice.
