Blue Community South Asia: Three-Month Progress Report & Action Plan, submitted by the Blue Community South Asia Coordination Committee.
Progress June – August 2026:
During the reporting period, the Blue Community South Asia Coordination Committee (BC-SACC) strengthened coordination, membership development, institutional outreach and opportunities for collaboration. Regular coordination meetings were held, while members actively reached out to NGOs, universities, research institutions, government bodies and other organisations working on water, sanitation, environment and community development.
The network grew from 17 to 27 members, with seven new organisations joining during July and August. Outreach and follow-up supported prospective members through the application and onboarding process. The Committee also shared 22 grant opportunities, 13 collaboration opportunities, 18 skill-development opportunities, 6 requests for proposals, 5 expressions of interest and 4 challenges, as well as academic and partnership opportunities. Two academic alliances and two partnerships were established, contributing to stronger regional cooperation.
Communication was established with universities, research institutions, government institutions, NPOs, trusts and community organisations, including institutions working on water, sanitation, biodiversity, climate and environmental technologies. Two members of the South Asia Coordination Committee also joined the global Blue Community Council, strengthening the region’s contribution to global Blue Community development.
One regional event was completed during the period, with another planned for October. The Committee also continued sharing information and opportunities with members through digital communication channels.
Priorities for the Next Three Months September–November 2026
From September/October to November/December 2026, the focus will be on consolidating the growing network and turning contacts into active cooperation. Priorities include regular coordination with existing members, a virtual meeting with members and prospective members, continued outreach to NGOs, universities and research institutions, and support for new organisations joining the network.
Participation in regional events, including the GSA 2026 Delhi Chapter, will further strengthen visibility and partnerships.
Overall, the first months demonstrate a rapidly developing South Asian Blue Community network, with growing membership, stronger institutional links, increased access to opportunities and a clear commitment to translating networking into practical action for water, sanitation, environmental sustainability and community development.
