Together with the two Blue Community Ambassadors Madelaine Moore and Erin O’Donnell, Isabel Botha and Zahra Ghoreishi will serve as Blue Community Australia Contact Points.

Born in South Africa and raised in Lobatse, Botswana, she was admitted to the high courts of both countries before relocating to London and later Australia, where she was admitted as a lawyer in New South Wales in 2005. She now calls Kabi Kabi Country, on Australia’s Sunshine Coast, home.
Isabel built a career in corporate law and global technology — holding legal counsel roles at CA Technologies and Avaya across Asia Pacific, then moving into strategic sales and marketing leadership at CA Technologies, Broadcom, ForgeRock, and Salesforce. In 2026 she completed Boundless Leadership through the Nalanda Institute for Contemplative Science and is currently part of the Wisdom School Pilgrimage Project through Embodied Philosophy.

Her academic journey started in water engineering before moving into hydro-politics, where she became particularly interested in questions of power, governance, and transboundary water conflicts in Asia. Today she investigates how scientific expertise, computer-modelling, and future imaginaries shape environmental governance and politics. Her research brings together International Relations, Science and Technology Studies (STS), political ecology, and political sociology to understand how scientific knowledge becomes legitimized and influences political decision-making. See her full CV here (PDF)
