FEDIP – Frente de Defensa en Protección del Medio Ambiente y Derechos Humanos del Perú (Defense Front for Environmental Protection and Human Rights Peru) – is a grassroots organization dedicated to defending environmental rights, protecting local communities, and promoting social and environmental justice in Peru. The organization has been actively engaged in supporting communities affected by large-scale mining activities, including advocacy related to the operations of Compañía Minera Antamina and its Swiss-based owner, the Anglo-Swiss multinational commodity trading and mining company Glencore. Through public advocacy, community mobilization, and the defense of environmental and human rights, FEDIP works to ensure that affected communities have a voice in decisions impacting their lands, water resources, and livelihoods.
By joining the Blue Community Network beginning of July 2026 (see here), FEDIP strengthens our shared commitment to recognizing water and sanitation as human rights, protecting water as a public trust, and promoting democratic, community-based water governance.
