The Spanish Blue Community AEOPAS (Asociación Española de Operadores Públicos de Abastecimiento y Saneamiento) is working on a wastewater treatment guide for municipalities with population equivalents of less than 5,000 inhabitants.
The legislative changes enshrined in the Spanish Royal Decree on the Public Water Domain (R.D. 665/2023) have heightened the need to implement new treatment technologies in small localities, which have generally faced technical difficulties in meeting legal requirements. The guide aims to help small municipalities and water operators in the search for efficient solutions from a technical, economic and environmental perspective.
