El Niño: Environmentalists call on Burundi to strengthen protections for its population.
With heavy rainfall looming and likely to affect Burundi and several East African countries under the influence of El Niño, environmentalists are sounding the alarm. They are calling on authorities to consider the risks of flooding and landslides as a matter of public safety, while strengthening infrastructure and preventative measures in the most vulnerable areas.
