A year ago, we celebrated a powerful victory: BlueTriton—the successor to Nestlé—shut down their Ontario water bottling operations. Together, we danced in the joy of collective action. But deep down, we knew the story wasn’t over. And now, we write to you from the opening pages of the next chapter…

The Ontario government has just issued a new water bottling permit to Ice River Springs, through its subsidiary White Wolf Management.

This happened quietly. No public notice. No opportunity for community input. No consultation with Indigenous communities—especially Six Nations, whose lands and waters continue to be extracted and sold while many still live under boil water advisories.

Ice River presents itself as a green, family-run operation. But let’s be clear: this is a massive North American plastics and bottled water enterprise that controls up to 90% of bottled water extraction in Ontario. They bought Nestlé’s former facility for over $60 million and now operate under a different name—White Wolf—but with the same business model: extracting water from the ground and selling it back to us in plastic.

It’s time to say no. Again.

This is what we feared could be possible when the Ford government changed the rules around water bottling permits. And now, it’s happening.
