FATNATRE stands for «Facilitation de la transhumance nationale et transfrontalière pour les éleveurs» (Facilitation of National and Transboundary Transhumance for Livestock Herders). As an NGO working to improve the living conditions of livestock herders, pastoral populations, and nomadic communities in Niger, FATNATRE is focusing on their resilience, mobility, and access to basic social services.
Nomadic and transhumant communities are among the most vulnerable populations in terms of access to safe drinking water and sanitation. In many pastoral areas of Niger, families travel long distances and have limited access to safe water sources and adequate sanitation infrastructure.
In mid June 2026, FATNATRE was designated a Blue Community and joined the global family (see here).
