SMART Center Cameroon Ltd (SMARTCC), based in the costal municipality of Limbe, in the Fako Division, offers «SMARTech: Simple, Marketable, Affordable, Repairable Technologies for water, sanitation & sustainable livelihoods». Designed for WASH (Water, Sanitation & Hygiene), they now extend to agriculture, waste management and food science, empowering communities across Cameroon — and Central Africa — with self-supply WASH solutions.
Through a franchise model coordinated by MetaMeta (a social enterprise based in the Netherlands) and partnerships with EMAS (Bolivia/Germany) and TADEH (Spain), SMARTCC operates across the entire country of Cameroon via Regional Representatives — with future dissemination across Central Africa.
SMARTCC is in the process of creating a educational institution called ‹SMARTech Cameroon Vocational Institute› in partnership with PAID-WA Buea. This initiative will enhance knowledge to the Country’s education curriculum, where short courses certificates, right to HND shall be offered. To reach a majority of the population who may not be literate, the courses are designed to have 80% practical and only 20% theory. And training languages shall be English, French, broken French / English and some tribe’s traditional languages.
In its commitment to the Blue Community, SMARTCC states:
We promote self-supply WASH activities in the SWR and NWR of Cameroon, and have now created regional partnerships across four other regions in Cameroon to disseminate these technologies. Aside from the training, we provide services such as refurbishing wells, installing hand-drilled boreholes with EMAS and rope pumps that are fabricated locally, and water filtration using Basic Water Needs TulipBlu filters.
We liaise with other organisations, NGOs and government local councils to promote our goals and objectives. We have created regional partnerships and plan to train more independent drillers and trainers on WASH across Cameroon.
Thanks to our partnership with Basic Water Needs in the Netherlands, we can train TulipBlu filter buyers on installation and management. The filters minimise the amount of poor-quality drinking water consumed by the public, and are more affordable than bottled water.
Additional activities that our company does is waste management and recycling, food science, films, health and agriculture. All these initiatives are interrelated and are issues that affects our communities greatly.
Though we are not yet fully engaged in all of it, we plan to expand and explore each concept fully and create more jobs and a more affordable healthy living community.
In July 2026, SMART Center Cameroon Ltd was designated a Blue Community and welcomed to the network (see here).
