On the way to becoming a Blue Community: Reformed Church Schlieren, Switzerland.
At the public event ‘Sustainable Water Management’ on 20 September 2025, the representatives of the Reformed Church of Schlieren in Switzerland’s Zurich region clearly expressed their support for becoming a Blue Community. They are convinced that making a binding commitment to sustainable water use and supporting projects in the Global South for access to water would be a valuable addition to the church’s environmental label ‘Grüner Güggel’ (Green Cock). The parish also plans to use World Water Day 2026 to raise awareness of the right to water and encourage people to take action.
The event was co-organized by Yvonne Brändle, a Kenyan -Swiss activist who loves to work as a bridge builder between the global South and North with her latest project being supporting the launch of a Blue community project in Kibra, Kenya.
