Ecuador was the first nation to recognise the rights of nature in its constitution in 2008. This groundbreaking legal protection is now at risk. I stand with the Indigenous Peoples of Ecuador, whose rights and safety are also threatened by these proposed reforms, and the community of rights of nature practitioners, scholars and activists around the world.
