The company that bottles the well-known brand of water in Italy wants to expand its plant in San Giorgio in Bosco. However, the town is up in arms against the project, which is favoured by the right-wing populists of Lega.
We are in the final stages of the procedure regarding the disputed expansion of the Acqua Vera plant in San Giorgio in Bosco, north of Padua. On 22 January, the Conference of Services officially approved the expansion of the production site, effectively unblocking a regulatory process that allows production facility expansions to proceed in Veneto, even in derogation of urban planning regulations, through this simplified procedure. The final step in formalising this approval now rests with the city council, which must vote on the proposed urban planning variation.
