From the Blue Community Peace Point Development Foundation-PPDF
As part of the organizations commitment to strengthening the campaign for the shutdown of the Ororo Oil Well Fire, Peace Point Development Foundation participated in a 3-Days Strategic Campaign Planning Workshop in Benin City hosted by LINGO (Leave It In The Ground) and #HealthofMotherEarthFoundation from 4th – 6th May 2026.
The workshop focused on building stronger advocacy, toward ending the 6-years Ororo oil well fire with urgent intervention.
For 6 years, the Ororo-1 oil well fire
has continued to burn off the water bodies — releasing toxic emissions into the atmosphere, destroying marine ecosystems, accelerating climate change, displacing families and threatening the survival of coastal communities whose lives depend on the sea.
And yet… the fire still burns
How long must our environment burn before urgent action is taken?
How long will communities continue to suffer while accountability remains missing?
This is no longer breaking news.
This is no longer a warning.
This is an environmental tragedy happening in real time
The world must not stay silent while Ororo keeps burning ![]()
The time for urgent action is now!
