From the Blue Community Manica Youth Assembly – MAYA, Zimbabwe:
Last week was truly one for the books, exciting, impactful, and inspiring. We did what we do best: showing up for our environment and celebrating the power of collective action.
We were proud to take part in the #WorldEnvironmentDay Commemoration and #NationalClean-Up Campaign, organized by the Environmental Management Agency (EMA) and Mutare City Council under the theme, “A Plastic-Free Environment is Possible.”
The event brought together government officials, local authorities, schools, community organizations, and private sector stakeholders in a shared commitment to environmental sustainability and raising awareness on the dangers of plastic pollution.Through the clean-up activitie, engagement, and unity of purpose, we reaffirmed our responsibility to build cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable communities for both present and future generations. Together, we can reduce plastic waste, protect our environment, and create a greener Zimbabwe.
