Aigua és Vida demands that the AMB stop the privatisation of water.
The platform denounces that the PSC government of the Barcelona Metropolitan Area is promoting a new privatisation despite a study by the administration itself identifying public management as the most appropriate model.
They call for Veolia’s bid not to be accepted, as it could jeopardise the viability of the service.
The Aigua és Vida platform, of which Enginyeria Sense Fronteres is a member, calls on all metropolitan councillors to vote against the resolution to award the contract for the provision of the water service in eight metropolitan municipalities — Sant Cugat del Vallès, Cervelló, Corbera de Llobregat, la Palma de Cervelló, Molins de Rei, Ripollet, Sant Andreu de la Barca and Tiana — in a contract worth more than €1 billion and with a duration of 25 years. This vote is scheduled for 29 September.
