Drinking Water Causes Headache

Bujumbura: Access to drinking water is becoming a headache.

In Burundi’s Muyaga neighborhood, in the Gihosha area, and in Maramvya, north of the economic capital Bujumbura, access to drinking water remains a major concern for residents. Some households report receiving water only once a week, while others say they haven’t had any water flowing from their taps for several years. Faced with this situation, residents are demanding sustainable solutions to guarantee their access to this essential health resource, while Regideso, the national water utility, attributes the problem to the expansion of the city of Bujumbura.
