UN Secretary-General António Guterres stated:
“Public servants are the unsung architects of a better future. Public servants work for us every day. On this important day, let’s take time out to celebrate and honour them.”
The Blue Community advocates for water and sanitation as public services:
Blue Communities recognize water as a public good. They pay attention to sustainable water management and work to ensure that water supply and use remain in public hands. They support other countries in providing a functioning public drinking water supply and in achieving sustainable water management.
The key values of Blue Community state that Blue Communities “promote publicly financed, owned and operated water and wastewater services”.
As Blue Community, we would like to express our deepest gratitude and extend our best wishes to all water and sanitation workers and public water and sanitation utilities around the world. We also invite public water and sanitation utilities, public service unions and professional associations to turn blue and join the Blue Community.
