Water Authority warns the world: Systematic water deprivation policy hits Palestine.
The Palestinian Water Authority, in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, issued an urgent international appeal of a serious humanitarian and legal nature to the UN Special Rapporteurs on human rights and women’s rights, as well as to a number of relevant international bodies. The appeal warned of an unprecedented escalation in the water and sanitation crisis in Palestine, amid a rapidly deteriorating water situation in the Gaza Strip.
The appeal emphasized that the situation in the Palestinian territories is no longer a temporary service crisis but represents a systematic pattern of water deprivation—rising to the level of “water starvation”—resulting from Israeli occupation policies and targeting of water infrastructure. This constitutes a serious violation of international humanitarian law and human rights.
