From the Swiss Blue Community Eawag – Aquatic Research Institute:
Supply of safe drinking water services reduces risk of diarrhoeal diseases.
Diarrhoeal diseases claim nearly half a million lives globally each year, often caused by contaminated drinking water. As part of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the United Nations has set itself the target of making drinking water available to everyone. However, as a study by Eawag demonstrates, access to the supply of drinking water alone is not enough to reduce diarrhoeal diseases in children.
