The Blue Community Network is honored and delighted to welcome a new Ambassador to its ranks: Reverend Veronica Flachier.
Reverend Veronica Flachier lives in Quito, Ecuador. She is a Lutheran pastor who currently serves as president of the Ecumenical Human Rights Commission of Ecuador (Comisión Ecuménica de Derechos Humanos -CEDHU). She was Co-Chair of the global Blue Community World Council of Churches’ WCC Ecumenical Water Network and a member of the International Reference Group for 11 years. Today, she is a member of the WCC Just Community of Women and Men International Reference Group.
As the first Blue Ambassador in Ecuador and the Andes region of western South America, Veronica Flachier will strengthen the Blue Community in our Latin America Chapter. With her extensive experience in the WCC and her ongoing work, she will also breathe new energy into our Blue Faith Cluster. She states:
«There are communities around the world, in the Global South, that do not have – and have never had – access to safe water. At the current rate of excessive consumption and the ruthless exploitation of Creation and its resources, the people in those very communities will never know what it means to lead a dignified life if they cannot access water. Reversing this situation of inequality is a shared responsibility of all of us who inhabit Pachamama.»
